POEM OF THE DAY: When You Go to Bed

by Sunthorn Phu (1786 – 1855).

When You Go to Bed

When you go to bed
Don’t forget to salute the pillow
While saying your praise and gratitude
To your parents and teachers.
When you travel, or sit or sleep
If you hear a strange noise at night
The noise of ghosts, of spirits and demons
Do not call out to it, for it will come to you.
