Material for the Stout-Hearted Reader to Ruminate

♦ Essays, Lectures & Speeches ♦

Henry David Thoreau (1817 – 1862) was an American author, naturalist and philosopher best known for his book, Walden.

This week’s text is his lecture Walking delivered in 1851; it was first published in Atlantic Monthly in 1862, just after his death.  Walking is about man’s relationship to the wild or nature.
