Weekly Read-Along—January 16, 2009: I Have a Dream

Material for the Stout-Hearted Reader to Ruminate

♦ Essays, Lectures & Speeches ♦

Martin Luther King Jr. ( 1929 – 1968 ) was an African American civil rights leader and Baptist minister.  He was the 1964 recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

This week’s text is his speech, I Have a Dream, delivered on August 28, 1963 to a crowd of 250,000 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.  Although many people are familiar with specific quotes from this speech, it is not as often read in its entirety.
